Mechelle's Accommodated Activity:

Given signed targeted vocabulary, Jennifer will use 2-3 word phrases to request, label and answer wh-questions.

Alan will improve overall receptive and expressive language skills by utilizing residual hearing for sound production, communicating through voice and sign gesture and comprehending basic concepts and vocabulary.

Goal: Students will use curriculum based vocabulary to answer wh questions use 2-3 word phrases and improve overall receptive/expressive language skills in simple sentences.

Materials: Silly story cards, Wh-question category cards and placement category card for identifying who, what happened and where it happened

Warm-Up: Students will play bingo game to review comprehension of /who/, /what happened/ and /where it happened/

Procedures:

  1. The students will play identifying bingo game to categorize who, what, where questions.
    1. Bingo card have been modified with pictures from Boardmaker. (Ex.
Use picture of a girl and sign /who/. Find /who/ this is on the bingo card. Who is this? She is a girl.
  1. Students will then play Silly stories game to utilize putting character cards and activity cards in appropriate matching columns to create visual sentences together.
  2. Students will sign and voice simple sentences in silly form and matching form throughout the game.

Evaluation and assessment: Students will say simple sentences and identify wh questions with the echo microphone.
